  3. Well, what's FANT_EMU.PRG?
  4.  
  5. It's a small program which will help you to run the FANTASIA.PRG demo on
  6. the Atari Mega/STE. This program can run only on STE's, because it uses
  7. the stereo dma-sound. To check if the machine it currently runs on has got
  8. this dma-sound, it uses a really bad kinda trick: It checks the TOS version
  9. number. The STE normally has got TOS 1.06, and that's what it looks for.

  11. And now you, proud owner of a MEGA-STE, which also has got the dma-sound,
  12. come along and want to run this demo. And it won't! Because the MSTE has
  13. got TOS version 2.05 (or higher).

  15. So all this little program does, is to tell FANTASIA.PRG that the machine
  16. it runs on has got TOS 1.06, and therefore it will instantly run on the MSTE.
  17. Of course the <<emulation>> will run on any ST, but if you do so on a
  18. machine without the dma-sound, you'll probably be able to watch the most
  19. curious effects up to a complete system crash (I don't know!). In other
  20. words: DO SHOULD ONLY USE FANT_EMU.PRG ON A MEGA/STE!

  22. The idea is to put FANT_EMU.PRG in the auto folder first, and second the
  23. FANTASIA.PRG program. Since it does the <<emulation>> very roughly, I do
  24. strictly recommend to use it for no other purpose. You have been warned!

  26. FANT_EMU.PRG was written (or better: hacked) in GFA-Basic by
  27.
